My 13-year-old daughter recently started coming up to me in the middle of a day and just saying, “Hi.”
My response? “What?” As in, “What do you want?”
“I don’t want anything, Mom. I was just saying ‘Hi’. Do you want to be with me?” is her answer.
As a mother of four, I have grown accustomed to my children constantly wanting or needing something. My role is the source of meeting those requests. My sweet daughter is after relationship.
I often assume the same posture when it comes to God. As a doer, I feel the Holy Spirit drawing me and my response is: “What do You want?”
“Abide in my love,” He says (John 15:9).
Being available to serve God is sometimes what He is calling us to do, however many times, He is instead drawing you and me into a love relationship with Himself.
Will you choose to ‘abide‘?
