Inviting people into my home for a meal is something I truly enjoy. Yet when preparing, my ideals of how my house should look and how perfect the meal should be often do not even touch reality. Having four kids and a busy life means what I can achieve in a day will rarely be magazine worthy.
A little tip I have discovered along the way is to make dessert the day before. A completed chocolate cake or apple pie fills me with confidence throughout my meal prep. Knowing it will end well, no matter what the house looks like or the amount of side dishes I have time to make, lessens my stress level when hosting.
Knowing it will end well is the gift God has given to His children in our promised inheritance in Heaven. We have entered into a brand new year. You are not alone if you have feelings of dread, anxiety, or fear due to what we all have walked these past two years. Yet Jesus, our Savior, has guaranteed us it all ends well no matter what mess or disappointments we face.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:3-5).
Let’s walk with confidence into this year, this day, and our very lives knowing because of Jesus, it all ends well!
