“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken” (Psalm 62:5-6).
On my recent trip to the UK, amidst a flurry of fun with family and a constant stream of vivacious visiting, there was, for me, one blissful moment of the sweetest peace.
In a cathedral-like church in England where my brother-in-law is rector, I had the joy of experiencing a Sunday service. With its glorious stained-glass windows, lit candles, pipe organ, and robe-clad clergy, it was far removed from my regular rented-school-gym-church meeting back at home—yet it was exactly what I needed in that moment.
God’s peace, a holy reassurance of His presence, was almost palpable. With worldwide turmoil threatening to shake us to the core, I was reminded that our unshakable hope is in the Almighty. My Rock, my Salvation, my Fortress.
Perhaps you need that reassurance, too, friend. A peace-filled ‘cathedral moment’ of your very own.
Take it and treasure it—amidst the wonders of nature, at a church service, or in the haven of home. Rest in the sacred certainty that He alone is our Hope.
