Change is an unavoidable part of life. People move. Health declines. Careers progress. Friendships form and wane. Admired ones retire. We may desire things to stay the same, but they don’t.
I thought it was going to last forever—little people running around my yard in costumes with imaginations run wild. To my shock, I awoke one day and they had turned into teenagers full of drama, full of fun, and fully moody. It was an adjustment I found hard. The oldest one just left home. It sinks me to know the other three will follow suit one day, and I will walk through feelings of grief again and again. Yet God has been gently leading me through these days of change.
“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living!
Wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD” (Psalm 27:13-14)!
He is teaching me to trust I will see His goodness in every stage of my trek through motherhood. I wait on Him by sitting still with Him in the early morning hours. I catch glimpses of the grace, strength, and blessing He has for both me and my family as the years of change come our way.
How might God be gently leading you through seasons of change?
