It can be a humbling experience to reach out and ask for help. Once, well, truthfully more than once, I had to ask my Dad for financial assistance. I was embarrassed as a grown woman with a family of my own to have to ask him. Yet he was gracious in his response, gifting me twice the sum I had asked for.⠀ 205 12
Somewhere along the way, I began to believe the lie that I had to keep it all together and figure it all out myself. The lie sounded a bit like, “Big girls don’t cry.” And “What’s my plan?” And even “I just have to pray harder.” Maybe you unintentionally tell yourself the same lies.⠀ 153 7
Today's blog post by Faythe Andrews really spoke to my heart on many levels. I am so guilty of perpetually wishing that so many aspects of my life were different. I have my own expectations, I make my own plans, and I have my own ideas about how things should look at this point in my life.⠀ 559 4
It’s so easy for me to become engrossed with my own plans and responsibilities as I approach the holiday season. Even though this whole season should be focused on sacrifice, I find it so easy to become caught up in all the extra holiday plans, forgetting the humbling gift of the life I’ve been blessed with. I want to live my life (especially through this special season) with a greater sense of God’s humbling grace. I want to purposely focus and look for areas in my everyday life to be humbled by God’s amazing grace, more aware of His plan for me, and His great love for me.⠀ 208 3
