Sometimes we just need to hide. Not because we are afraid—or maybe we are. The kind of hiding I’m talking about is for both brave and fearful alike. I would say it’s more of a strategic move we can make.
If you were in the midst of a battle and you saw the enemy coming at you full force, would you stand there and do nothing, letting him plow into you? Or would you step behind the tree nearby?
I love these verses in Psalm 91:1,4:
“I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust…’
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge” (NIV).
He is meant to be our Safe Place, One in which we are comforted. His presence is our soft place to land when the battle feels thick and hazy. In fact once we run to Him, His wings will come up over us and surround us, hiding our very existence in Him—where we are safe.
I don’t know where today finds you, friend. But I do know there is a fortress just waiting for you to run to. It’s a place for you to hide yourself and be refreshed before returning to the chaos out there.
He is inviting you in. Won’t you join Him?
